Heading Into The Studio - These Guitars Say Sorry - We Were Younger Then

Well it's been a while and the focus has certainly been on live shows but today I start preparation for recording over the Winter with a view to a full-length release sometime during that period.

This is something I have agonized about for a while for a number of reasons:

  1. First off there doesn't appear to be a sustainable economic model for recording and releasing material anymore and even if there was it runs up against my dislike of music as a commodity. So having worked through that hurdle I think I will be releasing material on a "Pay what you want basis"
  2. There seems to be a finality to committing something organic and constantly evolving to disc. A perception that it has no further room for growth.
  3. Coupled with that with the emphasis on live performance, perhaps a loss of energy. Playing live is an experience. The place, the time, the people, the music and at the end of the evening the tunes float off into the ether to be remember by those there differently. Recording in final form puts an end to that.

But enough of this! I have the title for the project finalized I think and it will be "We Were Younger Then". I have the songs completed with about 80 originals  to choose from and having worked through my angst about the whole process the focus to get started.

Keep messaging me about how it's going. It'll help keep me on track (ha ha or not) and in turn I'll perhaps leak a few rough demos along the way.
